Right after its registration on July 24, 1996 at the Securities and Exchange Commission as an independent evangelical church in the Philippines, Soli Deo Gloria Christian Ministries (SDG) began to chart its own history through the function of the Holy Spirit.

The name Soli Deo Gloria was selected as it was one of the battle cries of the Reformation Period. This was part of the 5 Solas of that Period- Sola Scriptura, Sola Fide, Sola Gratia, Solus Christus.

SDG was birthed when it separated from Bread of Life (BOL) Quezon City, where it was formerly affiliated. SDG was fully convinced, after a thorough and careful examination of facts, and after much prayer, that BOL has drifted away from the Ancient Paths and from the biblical model of ministry with its introduction of the “New Paradigm”.

SDG simply cannot work hand in hand with BOL with this kind of atmosphere and approach in evangelism. Thus the inevitable separation.

From its humble beginnings SDG stands where it is right now as it heeds the call to build the church of God founded by the Lord Jesus Christ and the Apostles following the same path of the Reformers, the Puritans and other faithful churchmen who blazed the trail of evangelism in church history up to the present setting.

In August, 1996 SDG launched “Shepherd’s Voice”, a 30-minute radio program aired initially over DXFE in Davao City.

SDG kept moving from place to place when it started, It began renting a place a place at the 3rd floor, Bernardo Bldg. In Magallanes Street, Davao City, to serve as venue for its regular worship gatherings and other church activities. It also housed a small office to transact business matters.

Due to the increasing number of attendees and visitors, larger space was needed for the Sunday worship services. For a time the Brokenshire School of Nursing Gym at Madapo Hill, Davao City, was rented. Then moved to the Fabie School of Midwifery at Doña Vicenta Village. Then again, it moved to the 3rd floor, Bernardo Bldg, along Bonifacio and Anda Streets, staying there for about 3 years until it finally transferred to the present location of its office and worship center in Loreto Street, Juna Subd.m Matina, Davao City.

About half a dozen different venues were used for the same purpose of gathering for worship until it finally settled in Matina.

Since its launching in 1996 Shepherd’s Voice has expanded its radio coverage nationwide (3 stations in luzon, 1 in Visayas and 5 in Mindanao).
