OUR PHILOSOPHY

The Soli Deo Gloria Christian Academy is first and foremost an educational ministry of the Soli Deo Gloria Christian Church. The school is established to provide our children an opportunity to receive a quality Christian Education in a safe, God-centered, Christ-exalting environment. We desire every facet of our educational process to reflect our commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, our commitment to the principles of His Holy Word and to the fulfillment of God’s agenda for the church.

SDGCA is primarily a discipleship ministry. In Ephesians 6:4, Christian parents are clearly commanded by the Lord to “bring (their children) up in the training and instruction of the Lord.” While there are several ways to undertake this, Christian education is arguably the most effective.

We must admit that the best part our children’s time is spent at schools. The bulk of their time at home is spent only for leisure and rest. The problem with our present conventional system of education is that it has become secularized and materialistic in nature and is generally inconsistent with the biblical philosophy of life. It is our belief that God gave the home and the church life training responsibility (Deuteronomy 6:1-9; Proverbs 22:6; Matthew 28:19-20; I Timothy 2:2; Ephesians 6:4). A Christian School, then, is a cooperative effort of the home and the church. We believe the foundations of the Christian faith must be taught and modeled in the home. Parents should pray and have daily devotions with their children and attend worship gatherings regularly. We exist to help support parent’s efforts to pass on a passion for God’s supremacy in all things through Jesus Christ, to instill Christian character and virtue, respect for authority, an appreciation for discipline, and an understanding of God’s Word and its claims upon our lives, and a desire for doing one’s best for God’s glory.

As a Christian school, the curriculum at SDGCA is fundamentally Biblically sound, offering a Christian worldview. All academic disciplines are taught from this perspective. The Bible becomes the foundation for all wisdom and knowledge, and its truths are present in each course of study.

The faculty and staff at SDGCA must be spiritually mature, born again believers who are able to teach by lifestyle and by lecture. They must be qualified to motivate, instruct, and explain in such a way that academic excellence result. The discipline of SDGCA is also based on Scripture. At SDGCA, discipline differs from punishment in its goal and intent. Biblical discipline develops character and is both firm and loving.

It is to this philosophy that the Soli Deo Gloria Christian Academy is dedicated, and it is in this framework that we propose to offer a quality Christian Education preparing our students to become mighty men and women of faith.
